Lynn always loved writing songs as a youngster "I wrote some weird and wonderful songs then, but I keep them to myself!"
Just recently she re-discovered her love of expression through songwriting. Above is a small selection of her recent songs "The Photograph", "What If?" and "Burnout" which can also be found on SoundCloud and Spotify.
"The Photograph"
"This was inspired by a war veteran that used to frequent the bank where I worked in a past career, and he would come in daily with his carrier bag of clothes in hand, and lived on the streets. "The photograph" is a song about a war veteran that had everything in life, then lost everything in life. Sometimes you just don't know the reason behind people's decisions and how they got to a certain place in life. "The Photograph" is full of emotion, a song of his struggles, his past happiness and the rest you will need to take a listen!"
"What If?"
"My husband always wanted me to write him a song ever since we started dating many years ago! The trouble with us creative people is that they always have so many ideas going around in their heads (information overload) and my list just got longer and longer!
I finally got around to writing a love song for him in time for our beautiful wedding day. "
"Burnout"
"I wanted to write a song in a different style, so this is a soft jazz melody, a song about finding relief from the pressures of life, whether they are large or small."
"Song of the Malachite Sea"
"I always hated boats and sailing ever since I was a teenager when my parents decided to enrol me in a "Learn to dinghy sail" weekend. After hitting my head on the boom I spent the next 24 hours with concussion! Roll on the years and I met my husband who has a love of boats and sailing, so we bought our first sailing yacht together. She was a 41 foot Hunter Legend called "Avalon" and she was a beauty! We lived on her for 5 years or so, and sailed everywhere. We sold Avalon due to life's circumstances at the time and believed we could never purchase another yacht again and regretted it ever since.
One day we started a search and found our next yacht, "Phira". You see, there is nothing like the tranquility, calmness and immense sense of achievement you get from being in the middle of the ocean, being propelled by wind and tide alone. It's not always "plain sailing" though. The sea has a mind of its own, and I wrote "Song of the Malachite Sea" after one particular experience that wasn't so great! I guess Mother Nature has a way of telling you who's boss but also looking after you."
